Who the Trust works with

To achieve habitat enhancement, the Waiau Habitat Enhancement Trust works with landowners and other organisations within the Waiau catchment community.

Landowners (individual farmers, corporates, DOC and LINZ) are the key to making habitat enhancement and access projects happen.

The Trust has built strong relationships with a wide range of landowners and administrators over the past 15 years and this continues to be the priority for the future.

One very special partnership is with the QEII National Trust. Both organisations work very closely together and jointly fund fencing grants on private land for the Covenanting of areas of bush, wetlands and streams, which meet the QEII National Trust criteria. This approach means the efficient use of both organisation’s funds.

Cooperation is the key.
